BLACK MASQ - A MasQueerade Gala

  • California Ballroom 1736 Franklin St Oakland, CA, 94612 United States (map)

BLACK MASQ - A MasQueerade Gala is the premier event of Pride season hosted by Oakland Black Pride. BLACK MASQ blends sophisticated dress, mysterious masks and striking performances into an evening of splendor and intrigue.

Before there were cool kids ordering bottle service, artists and icons showed up as their most authentic selves, setting aside the boundaries of gender in unique self-expressions of identity. Let's get that old thing back at BLACK MASQ 2022 and discover who we really are behind the masks we wear.

Live Music Performance by serpentwithfeet

"Performance artist and purveyor of the pagan gospel, serpentwithfeet translates the traditions of the blues and the Black church into the darkly magical language of all things experimental, primal and infectiously electric. Existing comfortably in the gray area, he describes himself as the lovechild of Kirk Franklin and Björk and stands at the cutting edge of fearlessness in Black music. His insatiable curiosity and fierce individualism have taken him from life as a choir boy in Baltimore to collaborations with some of the most exciting rising producers."

Opening Set by Oakland's own, Lalin St. Juste
